Digital Biology
Historically, the worlds of wet chemistry and computing have been far apart. But with the completion of the human genome project, and the spike in the cost of clinical trials of potential new medicines, the move is increasingly to use computers to do analytical work previously reserved for the lab. OVP stands at a unique position in this new world of bioinformatics. We’ve been successful in both the IT space and the biotech space – so we understand the driving forces of both. In addition, we’ve been in a movie like this before. It was called Electronic Design Automation (EDA) in the 1980’s & 1990's. The move from physical prototypes to electronic representation and analysis of designs spawned a multi-billion dollar industry of tools and systems. That wave is just now building at the intersection of biology and computational power.
