Clean Tech

The issues of global warming, energy independence, finite fossil fuel reserves, clean air and water, and higher efficiency are secular trends offering significant opportunities in clean technologies. Many of the same food-chain value-capture points we've seen in other technology sectors apply. The challenge is to find those that fit venture capital investment profiles and timelines. Much as with our successful thrust into digital biology, we see an opportunity in "digital energy". These companies will leverage many of the same domains as historical information technology startups (advanced materials, electronic and electromechanical subsystems, software, communications, bio-informatics platforms) - yet focus themselves on new, dynamic applications in the clean tech space.
